Classy

Well as most moms know (I hope I'm not the only one) that some potty visits aren't always welcome. Eve in particular, needs some enticing. In this case, it was Taco Bell. Look at that classy kid, no pants, scraggly post nap hair, on the potty eating, and if that's not enough it's a large burrito the size of her torso. Obviously anything goes in our house.

Bargain Hunting

One of my favorite parts of summer is the tag sales, the Canadian in me wants to say "garage sale", but you get my drift. Braden was a bit surprised when I arrived home with this little beauty, only picture it with giant red handles on it. He said "What are your plans for this little number?" He was skeptical, and to be honest, I wasn't 100% confident in it either, but for $10 what can you lose?  It had a great size for an entryway or living room, with adorable legs, and cool detail on the bottom.
But a lot of sanding, paint stripping, and reinforcing and we got the base of it to improve greatly. As I started this little adventure I was so pleased to see more evidence that it was home made! Little flaws in the beveling, crooked here, fine detail here etc. made it so much cuter to me!
Choosing the color was the hardest part, did I want a statement piece? Or did I want something that I won't get sick of in a few years? I went with the blue, and thanks to a great Korean online store, the handles were purchased at a great price :)
A little elbow grease, time, and few accents and VOILA! It has flaws, but I love it, and Eve likes the handles...no surprise there.

16 Months

This little one is on the move all the time. She has so much energy I can hardly keep up! The past 2 months she has developed a whole new set of skills and words, its a love-hate relationship I have with this. I love the new things she does, she can be so funny and inquisitive. But with every new word and action, a bit more of "my baby" slips away. She is fascinated with anything that "a big girl does". Recent developments would include:
-Saying NO a lot.
-New words and new lots of chatter
-Climbing on everything
-Still obsessed with dogs
-Really interested in the potty, this kid can't stand a dirty/wet diaper, who can blame her?
-Loves to clean, she must just do it because I do it, but she loves to find anything she can to clean
-Learning to cope with dirt as we are outside much more, now she can at times, brush off a little dirt on her hands instead of insisting it be cleaned until they sparkle.
-Really into books
-Still a diva
-The best for last....Her hair fits in the cutest little pigtails!

Beach Day

Today I got the special treat of getting a half day at work, so Eve and I had a little beach day. It was our first of the season! (pretty late, I know.)
Eve did really well today, she didn't complain too much about sand in her shoes, that is always a big issue for her.

The water was pretty enticing for her, and then a piece of seaweed floated over her foot, and then this happened:

What a girl!

So we then just journeyed back to our little shady spot and spent the rest of our afternoon finding shells and enjoying the beach. Oh beach days, how I have missed you! Only now you are better that Eve can play and isn't just a vegetable, good times.

Canada again? Yes Please!

Our trip home was quick, but so fun! Eve got plenty of attention from all her cousins, maybe a little more than she's used to, but she really enjoyed herself. She, as Sophie so funnily stated, "is so much more fun than last time." As the last time she saw them she wasn't walking or talking yet.
Our weekend was spent jumping on the trampoline, reading a lot, (Eve's new favorite, she would walk to anyone and everyone with a book or magazine so she could "read" to them) and spending quality time with family.
It was my little Brother's last weekend before he entered the Missionary Training Center to get prepared for his mission. He spoke in church, and he was wonderful. I never knew my baby brother was so grown up, I was great. And it was also the special day for my new little neice's baby blessing. My sister recently had a 4th girl enter their family, Capri Soleil Ledding, and she's so darling!

Myself and the new little bundle, isn't she adorable!? Makes me miss the newborn stage, and really opened my eyes to how my not so little baby is growing quickly.
All in all, it was an amazing weekend. But Eve was walking around looking for her daddy after about a day and a half of being away from him. It was good to come home.
