Double-Edged Sword

The past 10 days Eve and Braden have been in Utah. Braden on a hunting trip, and Eve spending time with his mom. I have had mixed emotions about the whole ordeal. I really feel it is a double-edged sword. On one side it has been really nice to only have 1 easy baby to take care of, Graham is a dream baby. But I miss my Eve so badly, Braden too.
I had a long list of things I needed to get done while I had some time to myself, and as luck would have it, I got really sick shortly after they left. Once again, a double edged sword, I was glad to have been sick when I didn't have a toddler to take care of, but I also didn't get to have my hubby home to take care of me.

The time has been so precious, other than work, mild laundry and very light cooking it has been just my little buddy and I. Endless snuggles, and time to just really stop and smell the roses. I have really enjoyed the one on one time with him. I think it is so easy in the hustle and bustle of daily life to forget the tender, precious moments when babies are this age, and how fast it flies by.

First Smile

Last week he finally did it! Thanks to his crazy sister, he finally smiled for the first time! As a mom of a newborn, your life is generally just sacrifice. You give up your sleep, time, body etc. But then a magical thing happens, you get a smile! This tiny thing is so special, so amazing.

Its funny...

big, enthusiastic...

and fleeting...anxiously awaiting for that big smile to turn into a laugh :)

2 months

Little G is growing up! He is so close to smiling, I have gotten one or two, but he doesn't do it regularly yet :( But the poor little guy got his shots today, poor little guy. It never gets easier watching nurses give your baby shots.
He is staying on his growth curve as far as weight goes, but that is still quite low. He's 9lbs 8 oz, but staying in the 5th percentile. We are starting to do a few things to help maybe bump him up a bit. He is 22 inches long now, still my little string bean.
He is still up a few times at night, he doesn't sleep for longer that 3.5 hours at his best. But even with the lack of sleep he is still such a content mellow baby, doesn't fuss unless really hungry. Other than that he's happy all the time, which is really helpful because Eve is demanding a lot of attention lately.
He's so close to smiling! I get close to one, and then it fades, so I am anxiously awaiting...

Cotton Candy

Can you believe Eve had waited 2.5 years for this?! April provided Eve with her 2 favorite things wrapped into one, pink and sugar!

Needless to say she DOVE into it,

really didn't share

and didn't feel bad about it.

This was all hers :)

"The Aunts" visit for Labor Day

April and Candace are Eve's "Aunts" from the east coast. Since we don't live by any family, our friends are our families. And we are so blessed to have these two gems be here for our kids, especially Eve :)
Their visits are always filled with so much adventure, this weekend it started with a trip to the zoo.

Eve's favorite place on the planet is the zoo, she has been several times this year, but it never gets old to her.
And it's always more fun when you go with the aunts that spoil you rotten :)

And of course the carnival! A carousel can always make Eve ecstatic!!
It is always a sad moment when they have to leave, as they closed the door to head back down to DC, Eve sniffled, wiped her quiet tears and said softly to me "pwease have them come back, I want another adventure"
Anxiously awaiting the next visit! Come back April and Candace!
