Bibbity Bobbity Boo! Say goodbye to being 2!

Our little Princess turns 3. I love how fun she is. When I asked her what kind of birthday party she wanted, there was only one obvious answer...Cinderella! She looked at me like I was crazy when I asked, she gave me the "really mom?" look. I should have known, the world has been revolving around Cinderella for a while now.

So a Cinderella party it was. Luckily Cinderella is blue, so I didn't feel as bad for the boys that were attending. I'm not much of a party planner, I wish I was, but the whole thing just tends to stress me out. So, simplicity was the real theme here. We did simple cupcakes with Cinderella silhouette toppers, blue coated pretzels and blue dipped marshmallows for the treats for the kids. A veggie tray for the grown-ups, and a communal waffle bar. Waffles are still Eve's favorite food. And I hit the jackpot at Stop n Shop, I found Blue Raspberry Kool-aid! It's been discontinued for a while now, but I found a few packs in a random place, so I was happy about that. I couldn't find any drink that was blue colored...I guess there is a reason for that. Oh well, the kids loved it.
We had crowns and wands for the little princesses that came, and funny glasses for boys, and plenty of balloons! Seriously, a 3 year old birthday party needs no games, just helium filled balloons and lots of sugar, the kids really do the rest. It was really fun to see them make their own games and enjoy each other.
Eve got her wish, she's been asking me for those "squinkie" toys for a long time now. But I just couldn't justify getting them for her, they are so tiny (maybe and inch tall) and Graham will just find a way to eat them, I'm sure. So I always had to tell her "no". She loves them so much, every time we would be in Target, she would ask to go to the toy isle so she could "just look at them, and hold the box just for a few minutes." I'm the worst mom ever! Luckily her friends love her enough to get them for her, and she loves them. She got some great toys and most were all princess and Cinderella, so Eve was elated! She spends a lot of time now quietly by herself with her new toys, careful to be far away from her brother that likes to grab them from her.

 

Puerta Vallarta

I am doing a little bit of catch up here. Back mid December, we went on a little vacation to Puerta Vallarta. Braden's brother Michael was getting married to the most wonderful woman Brooke. I am so excited we are officially sisters, she is such a doll. The vacation was just what we needed, perfect weather with lots of sun, lots of time to relax, great food and great company. It was so helpful travelling with family, aunts/uncles and grandparents willing to help with the kids really made travelling with 2 kids possible. We even managed to take a morning to do a zip line-repelling excursion. We went into the city one day, and to our surprise it was a huge festival. The cathedrals were all decorated beacutifully in celebration of Lady Guadeloupe, it was so great to see.

The wedding was amazing! It was perfect, small, simple, intimate, classy, and beautiful. It was right at sunset, and a beautiful ceremony. Eve was so thrilled she got to be a flower girl, she was so particular about how she walked. She was quite serious as she dropped flower petals, making sure they were just right. Congrats Michael and Brooke!



 

6 Months

Graham is 6 months now, and a lot has happened in the last month. Just after he was 5 months he rolled over, and now he won't stay on his belly for more than about 2 seconds. He can't roll from his back to his belly, could it have something to do with his large "stature"? At his 6 month check up this tank weighed in at 19 pounds! He is in the 90th percentile for weight, head and height. Needless to say, he's a big boy. He still drools buckets. And no, he's not teething, this is well normal. Not that this much drool is normal, but it's normal for Graham.
Also this past month we started Graham on solid food. As expected he didn't love it at first, but he came around shortly. He's not exactly one to turn down food.

This past month we also sleep trained him. I know not many agree with this method, but we think it is best for our family. It only took a few nights to "cry it out" or learn to self soothe, and now he sleeps like a champ. He takes better naps, and doesn't wake himself up in the middle of the night.
