My Hubby's a Tough Mudder

This weekend we ventured out to Mt. Poconos area for the Tough Mudder race! Braden and a few of his buds have been training for this for months. I personally, don't really see the appeal in a 12.5 mud obstacle course. Must be a guy thing? Anyways, they were so excited to finally get to do it. This is them at the start line. 

They really proved they were "tough mudders", the weather was a brutal 50 degrees, and the first obstacle was jumping into a mud puddle full of ice. It was a chilly race day for these boys. The race has a whole bunch of different obstacles, one of which is a field of hanging electrical wires, charged anywhere up to 10, 000 volts, and that's not to mention the "field of fire"...yes, a field full of real fire they went through...Crazy stuff, you can see more about it here www.toughmudder.com 

So while the boys were out doing their race, my friend Lindsey and I took our kids to Apple Blossom Village. It was such a great little place. There was a farmer's market, petting zoo, playground, and indoor play place. It was the perfect little haven for two really pregnant ladies and 4 kids under 5 years old. As much as we would have liked to watch our hubbies accomplish this course, our current state wasn't in our favor. That being said, I wasn't able to get any pictures of them muddy during the race, but those will come later from the website.

This place even had a mini carousel and ferris wheel! Obviously, it was a huge hit with the kiddos. 

The cage-like contraption was a little intimidating for the youngens at first, but they got over that fast. They played so hard that day, come afternoon time and Eve started laying down in the ball pit saying "I'm so sleepy" trying to take a nap! (At that point the place had mostly emptied out so it wasn't that busy). 

Post race, they let them all get showed up at the course so they came home fairly clean. Eve's shirt says "my dad is a tough mudder". And he truly is, I thought parenthood alone proved that, but apparently this race is the real deciding factor :) We couldn't be more proud! You're the best Braden!!!

Family Pictures

April was patient enough to snap a few family pictures of us while we were down in the DC area. This time of year it is so beautiful! The cherry blossoms, tulips etc are all in bloom, the weather is perfect. We couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a picture done, especially with such a gorgeous temple so close. 

Eve loves to give baby brother love, I love how she kisses/hugs my belly spontaneously. It makes me so happy :)

In the midst of all the funny ones that came out, trying to keep Eve entertained while trying to all smile, we did get some keepers. 

Taking pictures with a toddler is challenging, at best. Poor April had this to work with for most of the time.

DC trip (Easter weekend)

For our Easter weekend, we went down to Washington DC for the weekend to visit our friends April and Candace. And while they so graciously took Eve off our hands for a day, Braden and I had a whole day to ourselves! This kind of thing doesn't happen often, so what did we decide to do? Go sight seeing of course. At first the Canadian in me wasn't entirely thrilled at the idea of going to see all the US history sights. In lieu of embarrassing myself, I will be honest, when Braden said "We can to to the mall!" really enthusiastically, I for a second thought he was trying to be nice and referring to the HUGE shopping mall they had down there. Obviously not the case.
But it was really interesting to see all these monuments, memorials, museums etc. Braden was my teacher and I his student. My American history knowledge is a bit limited so I learned a lot.
The new Martin Luther King JR memorial is really nice.

It was such a fun day. We got to walk around, chat, and really just enjoy each other's company. When my large state indicated my needing rest, we would just lay on a patch of grass and laugh and joke around. It was a nice refreshing day out. And yes, to humor me, at the end of it, Braden took me to the REAL mall where I got to do a little shopping  :) 

Now this little Diva had other plans that day. Her "auntie april" was kind enough to take this thing and show her around the beautiful temple grounds and out to different markets etc. These glasses go everywhere. I think part of her need for them is that every morning when leaving for work I say "where are my glasses!?" She sees me need them, and thus, she must have hers...ALWAYS

This might be my favorite picture of all time! That face, it just melts my heart every time I look at it. I love the tulips and temple in the back, but that little face....love love love

Easter!

Happy Easter from both the Edwards babies :)

We had the pleasure of spending Easter with our friends April and Candace down in Washington DC this year. It was just bliss. Perfect weather, flowers all in bloom, great company, and of course, chocolate!

Eve had so much fun finding Easter eggs! Last year, she was happy to do it, but this year she really got into it. She had so much enthusiasm it was such a pleasure to watch. At one point she was having so much fun, Braden tried to sneak a few eggs out of her basket to re-hide them, but she noticed. Immediately. You just heard this "hey, dad! Not my eggs!!!!"
