Life Saver

I can't say it enough, this Excersaucer is a life saver. She loves to "stand" by herself. Also, I think everytime I blink Eve gets a little blonder...I love it, I am starting to see more of her dad in her :)

Exploring

Eve's Nana (Braden's Mom) got this for her to play in for our trip out to Utah previously, and was nice enough to let us take it home. "Why is it in a closet?" You might ask. The answer is that as preciously discussed in the blog, our house is very open and doesn't have any doors. And this contraption goes into a doorway with the molding around it. So it is in our coat/shoe closet. I made necessary arrangements so that she can't hurt herself, but there is many distractions with all the shoes and all of the things hanging on our doorway storage unit. But she is a big fan of it, she gets to feel like she's standing like a big girl (sniff sniff she's growing up!) with no one helping.

 I found her an excersaucer! I know you can find them in stores everywhere, but I am too cheap to buy one for $100 for a toy she'll only use for 3 months. But I did find a perfect one on craigslist that was barely touched, and it is a little boyish, but maybe our next will be a boy? After cleaning it, some water had dripped down into the feet area from the toys, and left a little puddle. I put Eve in it to try it out, and she just started squacking and squacking, I couldn't figure out why. They I noticed the puddle, it was very tiny but it was there. And she didn't like the water on her feet, so I placed a little towel there and she was fine. She's such a girl, I love it!

Yes my child is naked, (diaper only) sometimes when she eats food that can stain her clothes or jammies, I just let her eat naked. It's always an endeavour getting clothes back on.

Her favorite part of meal time is getting to play with the spoon afterwards, I have no idea why, but it keeps her entertained for a long time. Long enough to clean up supper and do dishes.

This is Eve with her little friend Peyton. His mom Camille watches Eve while I work. It is so cute to see these two interact, they just smile at each other. He is about 2 months older, but he is so cute with her, I am so glad he's willing to share his nice mommy with Eve a few days a week. She loves her, and Peyton so it's a good fit. He even tries to share his toys with her!

When Eve gets really excited now, she'll stick her tongue out when she smiles, it's so dang cute!

Because of her great length (who knows where that came from) one piece pj's don't really work for her. But I don't know if I like anything more than a little baby in jammies, I just love them!

Sound Sleeper

Our apartment is an interesting layout, it has three floors all on top of one another, and there is no doors. Well, there is a door to the bathroom, the bedroom closet, and the coat closet. But there are no doors to each of the main rooms. Anyways, there is a point here, because of our fun layout to the house there is no place of quiet or peace. It is rather annoying at times, such as when you are trying to sleep and all you can hear is the laundry machines going, dishes being washed, etc etc. This "annoyance" is all Eve has known her whole life. Since birth, as most mothers do, nap times are used to accomplish those household things that are more difficult to get done when she's awake. Moral of the story is, that Eve can sleep through anything! She can sleep anywhere at any time, and we are now finding out that she can sleep in any position imaginable. Since she has been able to roll over (both ways now yay!) she sleeps in all kinds of positions. Lots of times when either one of us goes to check on her, we always come down saying "she's sleeping with her bum way in the air," or some other new way she has to try.

The Voyage Continues

As we are continuing to explore the new world of solids with Eve we are seeing more and more of her personality coming out. She is a pretty mellow baby, but when she wants something she lets you know. The same goes for things she likes and doesn't like. So far green beans were not a huge seller, she would eat them, but not enjoy them. Peas were a big hit, where as carrots were definitely not!

This was the general result of trying to feed her carrots, she would fuss but she soon learned that when she would open her mouth to fuss some carrots would make their way in there. So she promptly learned to fuss with her mouth pursed shut. It's was really funny to watch at first, but now I am worried she knows how to efficiently avoid eating foods she doesn't like. After the 4 days of carrots were over, sweet potatoes were next and she was a huge fan. Squash is what we are currently working on and she doesn't seem to mind them. She doesn't love them, but doesn't hate them either. I am so lucky that she is a good eater (other than carrots) so far.

Eclipse

As many of you know I am really not a big Twilight fan, I haven't read the books or seen the movies, I think I fell asleep watching the first one with some friends. Anyways, while we were visiting Logan, UT after going to supper with some of our old friends these ladies decided they were going to go to a 10 o'clock showing of Eclipse. So Braden volunteered to take Eve home so I could have a little ladies night.
We were lucky enough to get to the theater just in time (Wal-Mart candy run took a little while) and sit next to these two older ladies. They were hilarious, at the movies in their "moo-moos" with treats spread out all over themselves and their chairs. They weren't shy to let the entire theater hear their commentary, mainly personal. Firstly they would squeal like tweens anytime Jacob would be shirtless, which was fairly often but no complaints here. Although writing that makes me feel sort of like a pedophile because he is a teen in the show...Back to the ladies, there was a time that Jacob says "I know you love me, I make you nervous" or something to that effect, and you hear this phantom "You're making me nervous!" followed by a high pitched cackle from these ladies. Or during a fighting scene "Get 'em Alice! Get 'em!" and so many other comments throughout the entire movie. I have to say, if I had been a die hard fan of the Twilight saga they might have ruined it for me. But  because most of the girls I went with had seen it before we were able to just laugh about it. And to top it off, at the end we were so thrilled with the comedic additions to the show, Shawnee (far left) was able to snap a picture of Paige catching the two wonders in the background. It can be concluded that my first real Twilight experience turned out to be quite epic.

As a side note, for someone who isn't into the whole vampire thing, the movie was actually pretty good. It had some cheesy parts, but what movie doesn't. It had action and intrigue with a decent script. All in all, it was a good movie. It was a little bit confusing having not seen the first two or read any of the books, but still enjoyable, you can pick up the missing pieces throughout the movie.

Trip to Utah

We had the opportunity to go up to Park City and ride the rides that they have there. Braden's dad really wanted me to make sure that I am tall enough to ride them, I really didn't make it by too much...kind of embarrassing.

We had it all planned out that we would race down, but Braden ended up going  a person ahead of me, so that went out the window, also the "safety officer" at the top of the ride said not to race. Anyways, poor Braden got stuck behind a really really slow person so even starting a person later that he did I beat him :)

Next stop was Logan, Utah. This is where Braden went to school and where we lived our first year of marriage. This is the temple we were married in, it was closed for maintenance but it was fun to at least get a look at it and reflect on that special day. This is Sailor (left) she is the daughter of my good friend Kendra from Logan, she is only two months younger than Eve. We were going out to supper at my favorite restaurant in Logan, Pounders. It's a great Hawaiian bbq place, if you are ever in Logan make sure you go!

 One of the best parts of Utah is In n Out burger. I cannot tell you how much I love this place. I never get sick of them, when we lived in Utah the only one was in St George, so anytime we visited the family/friends down there we always made sure to go. Now there is one right in Draper just a few mins from Braden's parents' house.

We slipped away for a few hours and just have some family time. Don't get me wrong, we love to visit family, but Eve can get a little bit overwhelmed with all the new faces and so much attention. She is just used to having one or two people attending to her, and to have many more in her face (understandably) she can get pretty fussy. So we went to this bowling ally in Cedar City. We were in a lane next to these 3 older citizens, and one lady by her 6th frame had beaten our scores combined for our whole game!

Eve and Dad on the way home, she did pretty well on the plane coming home, except for when she pooped, and the flight attendant had just passed us with the drink cart (we were in the 2nd row) so we had to wait for her to get the rest of the people on the plane their drinks and get back to the front before we could get to the back of the plane and change her. And, I don't know if many people know this, but babies that are on soy formula stink REALLY bad. I can't even fully explain it, but people on the plane were saying things like "it stinks really bad in here, what is that?" etc. so that little experience just made the trip a little more humorous for us, but maybe not for all the others on the plane. Oh well, what can you do?

4th of July

This year we got to spend 4th of July out in Utah with Braden's family. We flew in on the 2nd and most of the celebrations took place on the 3rd this year because the 4th fell on a Sunday. We got to spend it mostly with Braden's brother Mike and his girlfriend Brooke. It was great, just relaxing, eating a late breakfast at Marie Calendars (amazing food! I never knew they made anything but pies) and then some more traditional activities in the evening. During the day we left Eve with his parents giving them a day to just be grandparents, or "Nana and Papa". The evening was awesome, we got to have a bbq with Mike and Brooke's neighbors, who are very very cool, and we set off fireworks out in the street. I haven't done that since I was a little kid and it was so much fun, and Eve had a good time watching all the fun colors and all the attention. But, as per usual, Eve sacked out not too long after her bedtime. I love that she can just sleep anywhere, their neighbors were so kind to set up a baby swing they had in their living room for Eve so she could sleep, they were so nice to us it really made the night for us.

Notice the nice drool on her dress, haha chewing on clothes and most anything within reach is definitely Eve's style.

5 months

This little munchkin is 5 months old! Here are some of her new developments:
- Discovered how to pull off headbands/bows as you can see in the picture with her crazy hair
- Loves all flavors of rice cereal and has just been started on veggies, green beans especially
- Can now roll over from belly to back! She is still working on back to belly, she is getting close.
- Has only laughed twice, she gets close and then just stops...weird
- Still likes to suck on her feet
- Holding on to her cute chubby cheeks and thighs
- Sleeping 10-12 hours at night, and taking 3 naps a day
- Knows how to use her voice, still no words but she is a little chatterbox in her own babble
- Loves to be naked
- Still loves to be in the bath or any kind of water at all times, she's a little mermaid
