Mothers Day is such a great day for me, I love reflecting back on my mother and all her sacrifices. I love thinking of all the wonderful mothers I know, and how much they teach me. It makes me so thankful that I have the opportunity to be a mom to this little one! (Don't mind that she's holding a cord in the picture, she was playing with the iron. She was dragging it around like a dog on a leash. I promise I am a responsible parent!) I love that Eve can give hugs and kisses, it makes my day everytime. Anyways, overall my feelings on this Mothers Day can be summed up in a little poem. I found this on my friend's blog, and it's perfect.
I'd rather be a mother than anyone on earth
Bringing up a child or two of unpretentious birth. . . .
I'd rather tuck a little child all safe and sound in bed
Than twine a chain of diamonds about my [carefree] head.
I'd rather wash a smudgy face with round, bright, baby eyes
Than paint the pageantry of fame or walk among the wise.

Little Moments
Life can get stressful and sometimes overwhelming. But I love to know that there are always little moments that make everything just a little bit brighter. Doesn't this picture just warm your heart? After scrambling to get everything ready to go to church I came upstairs to this...I love that Eve is so curious, and just loves to copy you.

Easter
Easter this year was perfect, very low key. In church I played piano in sacrament, and Eve only had one meltdown. So that is a big improvement. I love the holiday that causes us to really reflect on our Savior and all that he did for us. It is a holiday that for me has such a sweet spirit and feeling to it.
Then our sweet little angel April had us over for lunch and invited us to her easter egg hunt. And being her sweet self, she hid a few easy ones just for Eve. It was so fun to watch Eve search around for the eggs, but, being the lady she is, she wouldn't pick up any eggs. She would point to one and wait for someone to pick it up out of the dirt, then she would take it out of your hand to put in her basket. April throws a great little party, I'm so glad we have her in our life, Eve can't get enough of her!
We ended the day with a laid back supper with a few friends. I really couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the holiday away from family. Well, we truly spent it with our Connecticut family, and it was magnificent :)
Just look at that face!
Eve was pretty done taking pictures by this point. A loose string on this one was also a little too distracting for Eve.
Happy Easter Everyone!
Little Lady
Top reasons how Eve is such a lady:
#1) Always wakes up with grace
#2) Wears elegant satin gloves
#3) Holds her hands so gracefully while in said gloves
#4) She is far too fabulous to wear just on purse at a time
#5) She makes being tidy a priority

Poor Eve
Lately I have noticed my happy Eve has been, well, to be nice I'll say a little grumpy. It was night and day difference . How does my happy go lucky baby turn into a whiny beast in a matter of 48 hours? I figured it was just a phase. She wasn't sick, no fever, she was cutting one tooth I could see, but nothing too major. So conveniently her 15 month apt was yesterday, and I figured I'd have them check her out.
Well Eve was not being cooperative during her appointment! For everything from an ear check to her vaccinations she had to be pinned down. It was so sad, she was just hysterical! We tried doing things with breaks in between, everything. So as the doc was examining her throat/mouth as Eve is screaming, she says "oh my, I'd be a grouch too." Eve is now cutting 2 top lateral teeth and all 4 molars at the same time! She officially gets a free pass on being grumpy.

Project #1
So moving into our new apartment I knew I had a few ideas of what I would like to eventually put up to make it more "homey". So walking by Pottery Barn Kids I saw an amazing mobile for a little girls room. Unfortunately, it came with a Pottery Barn pricetag, ouch!
So a few trips to Michaels, and more hours than I would like to admit, and voila! It's close, not perfect, but close enough :)
#1) wreath wire, spray painted white, framing wire between
#2) pink scrapbook paper in 4 colors.
#3) a butterfly shape you want
#4) fishing wire,
#5) gems for the bottom, to weigh down the wire that may be wavy coming off the spool.

In retrospect, I wouldn't be so picky about the butterfly shape, and go with one available pre-cut. I individually cut out 148 butterflies...bad idea.
The finished project! I love the dainty look of it for my little lady :)
I put pink gems (beads) at the bottom for a subtle flare, and it helps keep the fishing line straight.
