Finally!

This year we decided that our tax return was best put to use by supporting Mexico's economy :) My love and I are taking a little 2nd honeymoon. And although it pains me to leave my little angel Eve, I know she's in good hands. And really, after 13 months of being on the back burner, my hubby deserves to have his wife back, even if its just for a week.
Adios, veale en una semana!

My funny little girl...

As this blog is the closest thing I have to a journal, I just can't not write a little bit about some of the funny things that have happened lately.
The Incident - Eve and I went to the grocery store for an ordinary trip for essentials. Eve in the cart, and we are parked in the canned foods section. As I am a few feet away looking at nutritional info on the back of a can of soup I hear Eve saying "gog, gog gog" (dog) I quickly look around thinking "Who brings a dog into a stop n shop?" Only to see a lady in a fur coat with this horrified look on her face close to the cart, and Eve is rubbing her face on her coat! As Eve is petting this lady, I sheepishly say "Sorry, she thinks anything with fur is a dog..." The woman was not impressed, but I had a good chuckle about it. And the rest of our trip at the store we saw the lady a few more times in passing and sure enough, every time she was in view Eve would exclaim "GOG!" and point right at her with a big proud grin on her face.
My little Mimic:
Eve's girly side is definitely coming out. She insists on wearing shoes ALL the time, she will bring over a pair she wants at the time and pass them to you. And if you don't quickly get them on her feet, she will pass you another pair, and another until you place one of them on her feet.
Also, the other day I hear some thumping around down stairs, so I listen closer, and I hear a few little footsteps then a thud...etc. I find out that Eve is trying to use Braden's scripture case as a purse, but it's too heavy so she falls over! This continues many time again and again before she gives up on it and grabs a dvd case and holds it under her arm like a clutch.
This is her dressing herself. Yes, that is my shirt, but she put it on all by herself.
It took a try or two, but she managed to figure it out :)
And yes, my baby girl flosses! It was a long train ride into the city one saturday afternoon, and I quickly was running out of toys and different distractions for Eve. In a moment of desperation I passed her a piece of floss. And to my surprise, she knew exactly how to use it. She stretched it between her hands and started stringing it through her mouth. I think she liked the minty taste to it, but it made me realize just how much she watches me.

Central Park Zoo

One magic day we were blessed with really nice weather in early March. It was fantastic, so we thought we'd take Eve into the city to the Central Park Zoo. Her attention span is pretty limited so this zoo was a good smaller size. Unfortunately, by the time we got there it was right about her usual nap time. She was pretty quiet and slightly cranky, but I think she enjoyed herself. It's so funny how you can see where her interests are, you can point and show her the monkeys or bears and you don't get much of a reaction. But if someone walks by with a dog, well she goes nuts, and just says "gog, gog gog!" and gets really, really excited!
She loved the tropical area, where the birds fly around you and you are right in the middle of the action.

She did not love getting love from her mommy though...

But the real winner was at the end when we went to the petting zoo! She loved seeing all the animals up close, she thought most of them were dogs, but oh well. All you heard was "gog" aka dog. But when we have her some of the animal feed, she just tried to feed herself, so we did most of the feeding.

Afterwards we just strolled around and did some people watching. she enjoyed that as much as the zoo :)

Learning to cope....with mess

I am currently learning to cope with mess. I have always been a very neat and tidy person, and for some reason mess and clutter drive me crazy! Anyways, having this cute little toddler has made me accept mess, become patient with mess, and really just laugh when she does ridiculous things...Such as this little number, I was turned around making supper, and bam! A few seconds and I turn around to the whole oat container on the floor and Eve is drawing pictures in the oats! In respect for her artistic moment, I just let her play for a while and sneaked a quick video of this masterpiece.
So as I sweep up the first load of oats into the garbage, as I'm turned around for about 2.5 seconds, she decides she's not done playing in them, and needs to spread/dance in the oats.

So I convince her to play with her toys, and that gives me a chance to get the oats mess cleaned up before another disaster happens...NOT!
This little thing moves quickly! Oh Eve, I love you and your high level of curiosity...never change!
