22 Months

Oh my goodness! Is my Eve really almost 2?! I can't believe it!

She is such a big girl now. She is speaking a lot, and can communicate exactly what she wants, it's been a blessing and also a curse. Haha, she speaks her mind no matter what, you can always count on her honesty. Even when it comes to your cooking. She is having a little trouble with her "L's" but she's getting there. Anyways, she is developing so quickly, more and more I am accepting that she is a big girl and letting go of the baby she used to be. She tells me if she wants one, two or no ponies in her hair in the morning, picks out her own bows, and pajamas. (We haven't graduated to her picking out all her own clothes yet, I or maybe my vanity isn't ready for that yet) Did I mention she loves to dig into my makeup?

I have to hand it to her, at least she knows where each item is meant to go.

She loves to brush her teeth! YES! She right now is really into her books, coloring, painting, and stickers. Man oh man, you can get her to do anything for a sticker. She will eat vegetables (within reason) pick up her toys, refrain from invading the Christmas tree, you name it! All in the name of her getting another sticker. She will stick them to many surfaces until they have lost the adhesive, then come back asking for more.
She is getting really good at manners, she has learned most situations to use them without being prompted :)
She is definitely having many more "terrible twos" moments. A lot of tantrums, time outs, and hitting in times of her frustration. But I will say, her speech development has really helped out, she is more and more using her words than fists or screaming.
She has enough personality for about 5 people...Yes, all by herself she removed her undies because it was vital they they be on her head to read a book, oh and she needed to pull out the entire drawer of books.

I love these little surprises I run into on a regular basis...

She is still the same picky eater, loves her bread and cereal. We are still working on her to try new foods, but she has a strong will, if it's not her idea...forget about it. But I love that she has a little fire in her, keeps things interesting.
She can be sassy and fiesty, but at the right time she is still a very sweet girl. She always rushes and says "warry" (sorry) anytime you bump into things etc.
She had her first real haircut! Well sort of, while she watched Dora, wait let me clarify, while she sat comatose to Dora's spell..I cut off her semi mullet. Just about an inch and a half to even things out, and she looks so much older. Isn't it crazy how when you trim the fine baby hairs they seem to age immediately?

We love you Eve, you're the best!

Green Mustache

This is a shock to me every morning. Eve likes my morning shake. Its a putrid green color, doesn't taste great, and has a gritty thick texture. (But its so good for you!)
Here iz why its so surprising. I have a picky eater....
I used to think that parents had a big influence on their toddlers and their diet. But I did everything by the book from the start, in giving her fruits and veggies regularly along with a balance of protein and grains. Now, just after she turned 1 year old she discovered that she likes bread. Let me rephrase that, she LOVES any form of carbs. All she wants to eat is bread and cheese, and will turn her nose up at any fruit or vegetable. I try bribing her, and that works a bit but I don't want her to get used to it. How do I get her to eat better? How can I ease her into liking healthier food? Braden and I eat well, but she has no desire for what's on our plate.
I sneak veggies into her everyday favorites, but I'd like her to eat them semi-willingly. Am I being unrealistic? I need help in this department! How did you get your kids to eat right?
Should I assume she's a typical toddler and just hope it fades?

Seriously?!

I understand that at her age, naps are basically necessary for survival...but this is insane. 

I had to work a Saturday morning, and upon my return I came upstairs to Braden laying on the couch checking his email and Eve sprawled across his legs passed out. 

So she usually naps around 12:30 or 1 o'clock, but around 11 or so Eve apparently kept just playing while Braden was emailing on his phone. She looked up and said "night night" usually indicating that she is tired, but it being so early Braden didn't think anything of it. So a few minutes later Eve pulled up her blankie and crawled up on his legs, and just passed out! No warning, no whining, just quietly closed her eyes and slept there. So Braden, being so great, didn't want to disturb her so he napped too . How she slept for so long  that way is beyond me. 

Daddy's Girl

As much of myself as I see in Eve, there is definitely a lot of her father as well. This first one made me cry I was laughing so hard. Because if you know me, you know that I HATE this! For some reason it's just a pet peeve of mine. So generally, I assume, Braden does it when I'm not looking or not around. Well, obviously someone has been looking! I could not believe it! For someone who is so tidy and proper, I can't believe she does this... The first time she had cold cereal for breakfast with us, she automatically picked it up and started drinking the milk out of it...great

She has this love for the outdoors that screams Braden, as long as she stays pretty clean, she loves to be outside and exploring new territory. She is very kind and forgiving and really sweet once you get underneath all that sass. She's still and hopefully always will be a daddy's girl. Speaking as one myself, it's a relationship I hope she nourishes and cherishes forever.

Just Like Mommy

This little lady is growing up! She wants to do everything I do, and I love it most of the time. Every once in a while she does something like mommy and I don't LOVE it...if you catch my drift. Some are cute, like her calling her babies "hunny" or "lovie", but some can be, well, too much like me.

But everything else is so fun, she absolutely loves to paint, draw, color, you name it. Although she doesn't like that when she paints by mommy she can't paint on mom's picture and has to sit on an old shower curtain, but she makes do with what she's given.

She also likes having her nails painted, it's so darling! Every time she asks to have them done, when picking out colors she always checks to see what color mine are and then usually picks the same one or close to. Then everywhere we go she shows her hands and says "Look! Pretty pretty!!!" 

And yes, she still loves to clean, this just be my favorite quirk of hers. Although she gets made fun of for her extreme cleanliness, I think it's great. You want to entertain her for a really long time? Hand that girl a swiffer! I never knew how closely she watched me until she found the swiffer for the first time. I went to the kitchen because I heard a noise, and she was moving the chairs out from under the table so she could swiffer underneath it. She every gets down on her knees so she can reach the back areas, she's the best! Keep it up Eve!

And as I'm sure most kids do, she picks up her phone every time I do and blabs away. Maybe she gets that from her dad? Haha, just kidding...

She's a creative, clean, social butterfly and I'm one proud momma.
