3 weeks

Well, I can hardly believe that my baby is 3 weeks old already! It is flying by so quickly, I can hardly believe it. She is doing so well, she loves her baby swing, and let me tell you, that thing has revolutionized my life. I can now do housework during my small windows of time when she isn't eating or needing to be changed etc. She is really wiggly, and very close to being able to roll over. She is continuing to maintain her mellow nature. This is by far my favorite picture! My mom was able to snap this one.  I just love it when she smiles, I know that everyone says that it's just "gas"...but I beg to differ :) I like to think that it's because she's happy, and content.

It works out really nicely with Eve's schedule when daddy comes home. It is generally around the time that she needs to wake up to eat again, and he loves having the job of waking her up. He likes to kiss her all over her face and neck, and it is very effective. She wrinkles up her whole face, it's so cute!

I think she just looks so peaceful in this photo, I want to capture all of these moments, they are already flying away from me. I just love her so much!

2 weeks...and loving it!

Well last Friday little Eve turned 2 weeks old. I can't believe how fast time really flies, I have always heard that the time flies, but now I feel that I am understanding it. Motherhood is great, I never knew I could love something so much! And with all the late night feedings, learning how to properly nurse etc...it really is a labor of love I am finding out. But she is such a good baby it makes it easy, she sleeps usually 2 shifts at night, each about 3 1/2 to 4 hours long, with a feeding and changing in between. She is a bit of a slow gainer, but with the help of a little formula and a lactation consultant, we can get her fattened up. Her dad doesn't mind that we have to supplement her with a little formula, because it gives him a chance to help feed her, and have that bonding time with her. It also helps with the middle of the night feeding too :)
One thing I have noticed, is she loves to have her hands touching her face at all times. She will wiggle them out of any swaddling possible. She actually prefers not to be swaddled. I was thinking about it one day, and I glanced to the fridge door where her ultrasound pictures were located. And I noticed that her hands were by her face in all of them. So it totally makes sense that outside utero. But it does mean that I have to keep these little mittens on her at all times, otherwise I am afraid she will scratch her little face.

It makes me laugh every time I see this face, or one like it. She is so expressive, and has such a fun little personality. I took this photo right after I was chatting with her, I mentioned to her that one day she will grow up and have her own babies, and as soon as I said that, she gave me this look. It was so funny! I always keep my camera close, because I don't want to miss anything, any face or expression...

After visiting with the lactation consultant on saturday, I was finally given the go ahead to give little Eve a pacifier, or soother as I like to call it. It is so great, now her daddy can more easily rock her to sleep, and help out in that department. It is so nice to see her so content with her dad.

Bath Time

Not too long after we came home from the hospital, I was so excited to give Eve her first bath. I think part of it is because I am obsessed with her hair, I just love to play with it. Anyways, to my surprise she loved it! She fussed a little when she first had to get naked and into the water, but after that she was really good. I know the pictures may be a little deceiving, but she is not a red head, her hair is definitely brown.

I love how big her hair gets right after it's washed :)

Eve Marie Edwards

At 8:32 p.m. this sweet little bundle of joy finally made her appearance! She came out beautifully, and fairly quickly for my first one. Dr Lenny Verrucci delivered her flawlessly. She was 6 lbs 12 oz, and 18 1/2 inches long. It was in this moment that I understood true joy, and unconditional love. Who knew carrying this little angel around for 9 months could bring on such emotions?
I just love this picture! One of the first things I said after delivery was "Does she have hair?" During my pregnancy I had heartburn all the time, so I was testing out the old wives tale that says the more heartburn you have the more hair your baby has. And in this case it proved to be true. Her hair looks exactly like my baby pictures, I had tonnes of dark hair, that liked to stick up in a mohawk. But I love the angelic face she has in this picture, just so peaceful. And I know as the mother I am slightly biased, but I think she is so pretty!

"D-Day" Feb 5 2010

Well, it finally came! On February 5th, 2010 around 6am I officially started early labor. I had contractions for the greater part of the really early morning, but around 6 they were about every 5 minutes and lasting about 30-45 seconds. I was excited, and the excitement was keeping my mind off the contractions. After throwing together the hospital bag, and a few other non essentials, I sent Braden off to work (he knew it would be short lived). Luckily my mom was here and had done 8 births naturally, so she had some great pointers for labor with no anesthetic. I had planned my entire pregnancy to deliver this way, and I was determined to complete this task. So I got myself ready and around 10 or so went with my mom to my OB's office. He was glad to inform me that I was ready to go to the hospital as well as his prediction of the baby being a little early was in fact correct. So Braden came to the doctor's office to take me to the hospital. It makes me laugh to admit that we indeed stopped at the taco bell drive through before we went to the hospital. Braden was hungry. But we did make it to the hospital around noon and the fun began. Braden was such a trooper, putting up with me through my contractions, I was not a fun person to be around, but he stuck it out, and watched every CSI or NCIS episode he could find. He would aske me things about the show, getting my mind off the contractions. About 6 hours later, after being in labor for 12 hours, the doctor broke my water to help things progress. And then 2 1/2 hours later, we got to finally meet our daughter!
